Oh deer!

Sometimes it’s hard to imagine wildlife being mere minutes from town, but a short drive west on Highway 410 yields plenty of furry friends.

My parents live about 20 miles east of Chinook Pass, where deer feeders have become a staple in the yards of most residents. In fact for some, the deer start to feel like family pets – becoming recognizable based on their markings and antler spikes.

We so often see doe, but visits from a buck are few and far between. And since I’m seldom without my camera, I was lucky enough to snap a few shots just feet from where the deer were feeding. This truly felt like a magical moment – being in such close proximity with wildlife – so I just had to share.

Happy Thanksgiving Yakima!
