When Jim Gilbert bought their home, this dining room was the living room, the ceilings were 8-feet tall, and a wall closed off the space that is now an open hallway. Raising the ceilings and knocking down the wall opened the space and made a comfortable transition from kitchen to dining room. (by Sara Gettys/Yakima Herald-Republic)
