A Pop of Color.

by on Apr 28, 2010

These melon-glazed pots from Russell’s Nursery are so fun and fresh; such a great pop of color.  They make me rethink the muted color pots I have accumulated over the years.  I’m thinking a splash of melon here and there would be a nice touch.

The exhibition at the Larson Gallery is well worth a visit.  ”Nature by Design:  New Directions in Fiber and Jewelry” is currently on display, and runs through May 5th.  The level of artistic ability and intricate detail put into these pieces is truly amazing!  These are some of my favorites.

Piety Flats.

by on Apr 27, 2010

When planning a wine tour, make sure to put Piety Flats Winery on your list of stops. Established in 1911, you will be taken back in time when you walk through the front doors of this quaint, but busy, little winery and mercantile.  Their wine list is superb, as well as their good old-fashioned customer service.

Piety Flats is on the Rattlesnake Hills Wine Trail, located on Donald-Wapato Road in the Lower Yakima Valley.  They offer complimentary wine tasting, gourmet food and cheese, and a lovely picnic area for you to sip your fine wine.

They sell award winning red wines, white wines, and dessert wines, as well as sampler packs containing a variety of their vintages.  For the upcoming events, they will be sampling their Junkyard Red Blend straight from the barrel.

The Piety Flats Mercantile is jam-packed with gourmet jellies, syrups, sauces, oils, tea, and candy.  They also serve old-fashioned Root Beer floats, Folklore drinks, and Sarsaparilla, perfect for the kids and designated drivers.

Local photographer, Kristin Davie, is a true talent. Her work is natural, classic, and graceful. She has a true ability to evoke feelings through her photography. Kristin specializes in wedding, family, children, and maternity portraits. Much of her work is done in, and around Yakima, and she occassionally uses Downtown Yakima as a historic backdrop. To contact Kristin or to see more of her work, go to her website, kdPortraiture.com. The following photographs are just a few of my favorites.
